Outdoor Activity Instructor Apprenticeship
37.5 hours per week, Term-Time Only
This is a fixed term role for 10 months from 1st September 2026 to 30th June 2027

Kick‑start your outdoor career with an Outdoor Activity Instructor Apprenticeship at Clifton High School. Working alongside experienced staff, you will support the delivery of Forest School, outdoor adventure activities and Duke of Edinburgh programmes while training towards a Level 3 qualification with Channel Training.
You will gain industry recognised National Governing Body qualifications, hands‑on experience with pupils aged 4–18, and the opportunity to obtain your D1 minibus licence.
You can expect a friendly, personal experience whilst gaining professional, relevant qualifications to propel you into your outdoor career. You will train alongside other Apprentices for 2026/27 with our training provider, Channel Training, and meet plenty of other aspiring outdoor professionals as they start their outdoor careers.
Essential Requirements:
- GCSE Grade D/3 or above in Maths and English
- Clean UK driving licence held for at least one year
- Aged 21 or over (for D1 training and insurance)
- Experience working with children and enthusiasm for outdoor activities
Desirable:
- D1 licence
- Outdoor First Aid
- Forest School or other outdoor qualifications
All required qualifications can be gained during employment.
This is a full-time, term-time only role (37.5 hours per week), working Monday to Friday, typically from 9.00am to 5.00pm with a 30‑minute unpaid lunch break each day.
Some flexibility in working hours will be required to support outdoor activities, residentials, and events. Time Off In Lieu (TOIL) is available to balance any additional hours worked.
The pro-rated salary for the above hours will be £20,578.90pa (£26,228pa FTE)
